Both Co-mayors of Bitlis and Güroymak arrested

Both co-mayors of Bitlis and its Güroymak district have been arrested as part of the increasingly ongoing operations of political genocide.

Co-mayors of Bitlis city, Hüseyin Olan and Nevin Daşdemir Dağkıran, had been detained as a result of raids on the municipality building and many houses two days ago.

After procedures at police station, both co-mayors were referred to court which ruled their imprisonment on alleged charges of “membership to a terrorist organization”.

Co-mayors of Bitlis' Güroymak district, M. Emin Özkan and Senaye Ata, HDP Bitlis provincial co-chair Nazmiye Avras and HDP provincial administrator Hamza Özkan, who had been detained on November 18, were also remanded in custody.

The detained Kurdish politicians were referred to Bitlis Courthouse yesterday evening and were arrested soon later for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization”.
