Security forces have raided NRT channel in German Village (Gundi Almani) in the city of Sulaymaniyah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Nearly 200 members of the Asayish forces have raided the channel and held the staff captive for more than an hour. The security forces later asked the staff to leave the building and that they were going to close the channel.
The channel is now closed and a number of the security forces remained here. They don't allow the staff and the journalist to enter the channel.
Broadcast of the channel has been suspended on the grounds of live coverage of popular uprising in Southern Kurdistan.
On the other hand, NRT TV reported that guards of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) attacked NRT reporter Wrya Hama Kareem and his camera was broken while covering the protests.
The reporter stated that the PUK cadres in the party’s office in Halabja have seized the equipment of the NRT journalists’ team.
