Cemil Bayik, co-chair of the Executive Council of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union), commented on current issues in a special broadcast on Stêrk TV. Part of the broadcast deals with the Kurdish liberation movement's stance on the Southern Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party).
Bayik said in his statement that the KCK is not against the KDP and the autonomous status of Başûrê Kurdistanê (Southern Kurdistan) and wants to act together with the KDP against anti-Kurdish forces. For the Kurdish people, the current situation offers opportunities of historic significance, and this opportunity must not be missed, he said.
Bayik appealed to the KDP: "On behalf of our movement, I give my word to the Kurdish people and the peoples worldwide: we recognize both the status and the government of Southern Kurdistan and the Peshmerga. We have no problem with them. On the other hand, I also want the KDP to give its word not to act as an agent of Turkey. It should not serve the genocidal policy. I want it to promise that. If it makes this promise, the problems that are taking place can be solved more easily. We would like our people to lay stress on this issue.
I would like to say something else on this subject: No one can stop this movement and this struggle. No one can ask us not to fight and not to resist. This movement has resisted surrender and betrayal, it will continue this struggle to the end. Until the Kurdish people are free, our movement will not give up resistance for a single day."
The Kurdish-language program was broadcast on Stêrk TV Friday evening.
