Clashes erupted between the Iraqi army, affiliated forces in Southern Kurdistan’s Makhmur district and peshmerga forces stationed on Hewlêr road. The Iraqi army and affiliated forces also bombed Al Waleed Border Crossing.
According to ANF correspondents in the region, clashes began at 09:00 am in the morning and are still continuing.
It is reported that clashes between the Iraqi army, affiliated forces and peshmergas have also caused harm to the civilians that have returned to their homes in recent days.
The people, who left the region after the attacks of the Iraqi army and allied forces, have slowly begun to turn back during recent days. It is said that civilians are attempting to leave the region again amid ongoing clashes with heavy weaponry and power cut in and around Makhmur district.
On the other hand, the Iraqi army and affiliated forces began to move towards the border between Western (Rojava) and Southern (Bashur) Kurdistan, and launched mortar attack on the peshmerga forces at Al Waleed Border Crossing, the only border gate between Rojava and Bashur.
Reports suggest that some mortar shells and cannon balls fired by the Iraqi army have landed on Rojava side of the border, reportedly causing some border officers to get injured.
