Co-chair of Tevgera Azadi released from police custody
Co-chair of Tevgera Azadi (Freedom Movement) Azad Omer Mihemed was released from police custody along with 11 other members of the organization on Wednesday in Southern Kurdistan.
Co-chair of Tevgera Azadi (Freedom Movement) Azad Omer Mihemed was released from police custody along with 11 other members of the organization on Wednesday in Southern Kurdistan.
Azad Omer Mihemed, was arrested on the second day of the popular uprising in Sulaymaniyah on December 18. Mihemed was on hunger strike to protest his detention.
Along with Mihemed 11 members of Tevgera Azadi were also released.
In a separate development an independent member of the Kurdish regional parliament, Rabûn Mehrûf, who was arrested during the protests in Sulaymaniyah, was released from police custody on Wednesday night.
Kurdish MP Soran Omer, announced Rabûn Mehrûf’s release via Twitter.
Mehruf is a member of "New Generation Movement" and a well-known critic of Kurdistan Regional Government.
