According to the Mezopotamya Agency, the Constitutional Court (AYM) announced its ruling on the individual application made by Hamili Yıldırım, who is held in İmralı F Type High Security Closed Prison, regarding the prevention of his right to phone calls.

On September 7, 2020, İmralı Penal Institution restricted Hamili Yıldırım's right to make phone calls for 6 months. The restriction was based on the claim that Yıldırım may establish organizational communication with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Having been notified of the decision by İmralı Penal Institution on September 8, 2020, Yıldırım applied to Bursa 1st Execution Judgeship on December 9, 2020, and demanded that his right to make phone calls be restored. The judge rejected the request, stating that the application was not made in due time. Yıldırım appealed against the decision.

On December 21, 2020, Bursa 1st High Criminal Court ruled that the judge's decision was "in accordance with the procedure" and that Yıldırım's request should be rejected.

Yıldırım then made an individual application to the Constitutional Court on January 21, 2021 on the grounds that "his freedom of communication was violated and the restriction of his right to phone was disproportionate under pandemic conditions".

The Constitutional Court ruled "inadmissibility" on the grounds that the application procedures were not duly exhausted.

Hamili Yıldırım has not been able to meet with his lawyers since his imprisonment in İmralı. For 8 years, he has been granted only 2 visits by his family members.
