Afrin resistance made history
A crowded march took place in the Canton of Shehba, where hundreds of thousands of Afrin citizens had to emigrate after the invasion of their territory by the Turkish army and its mercenary allies.
People from Afrin and Shehba walked to protest against the Turkish attacks and the policy of changing the demography of the region.
Thousands of people joined the march which went to the Berxwedan Camp from Shehba's Fafin district. Representatives of Afrin Autonomous Administration, TEV-DEM, the Kongreya Star, members of the Canton Assembly and the institutions in the region also joined the march.
YPG-YPJ flags coloured the march and people shouted slogans against the "Illegal council of traitors set up in Antep", the "complicity of Russia and Turkey in the disintegration of Syria". People also condemned the silence. And slogan remembering that “Şehit namirin” (martyrs never die) and “Biji Rêber Apo” (Long Live President Apo) referred to Kurdish People's leader Abdullah Ocalan.
People of Afrin has written history with their resistance
Speaking after a minute silence, Shehba Canton co-chair Wafa Hisen said: "The people of Afrin has deteated with its will the system the occupiers wanted to impose on it by force. We say that the fight for Afrin goes on in Shehba. This is our fight. We will fight for our freedom until the end", he assured.
Speaking on behalf of Kongreya Star, Heyfa Erebo stated that Afrin had written a new history. She added: "The people of Afrin, who resisted to all types of violence for days, continue their resistance in Shehba. The people of Afrin have settled in the Canton of Shehba precisely because they did not want to leave their land to the invaders. The people of Afrin - she added - have grown up with labor and will and they'll never give up their struggle and land".
Ending her speech, Erebo said: "Here two marvelous marches took place. The people of Afrin continue their struggle against all kinds of difficulties because they are loyal to their land".
