People continue to defy all bans and pressures on the streets of Van with songs sung in Kurdish.
Kurdish children uphold their own language on the Cumhuriyet Avenue, the busiest street in Van, and defy the bans with the songs they sing in Kurdish. With no instruments, the children use buckets they brought and sing in Kurdish as passersby show great interest.
Xeci, whose Kurdish songs ring throughout the streets of Van, says the Kurdish language and music can’t be stopped by bans or pressures. Xeci says they will continue to sing in Kurdish no matter what.
