15 people who were detained in the aftermath of the Sheladize resistance and remained imprisoned for over a month faced a judge today in the Deralok Court.

The detainees faced charges according to the Article 10 of Law 11 issued in 2011.

5 lawyers attended the hearing that started at 09:00. According to the lawyers, the 15 detainees gave their depositions and said they did not do anything wrong and they do not regret participating in the Sheladize resistance.

The court issued the 15 people 100.000 Iraqi dinars (around $85) in fines.

Lawyer Rewing Yasin said, “The people detained after Sheladize will be paid 3.000 dinars for every day they spent in custody.”

The Kurdistan Region’s laws allow sentences to be contested at a higher court within 30 days.

Lawyer Rewing Yasin said they will decide whether to appeal the ruling after discussing the matter with their clients.
