PUK president Bafel Talabani met with the UN Special Representative for Iraq to discuss the growing tensions in the region and said, “We are against war and destruction. We support all efforts to resolve issues through negotiations.”
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Dr Mohamed Al Hassan, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.
The meeting focused on political and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, underscoring the importance of safeguarding the highest interests.
Regarding the ongoing conflict in the region, Talabani affirmed his opposition to war and destruction, expressing support for all efforts aimed at resolving issues through dialogue and negotiation.
Both parties emphasised the necessity of intensifying efforts to mitigate the impact of the conflict on the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole.
