DTK and DBP call on people and parties to unite against Turkish attacks on South Kurdistan

DTK and DBP called on the Kurdish people and all parties, institutions and democracy forces in Kurdistan to stand against war and betrayal in the spirit of National Unity.

The Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) issued a written statement regarding the attacks launched by the Turkish state on the Media Defense Areas on 17 April.

The statement said: "While the invasion attacks and operations launched against the Kurdistan Federal Region on 17 April continue, the Turkish state is also targeting political refugees and known people there."

Kurdish politician Mehmet Zeki Çelebi was attacked and killed by two people in front of his restaurant in Bextiyari Street in Sulaymaniyah on 17 May, and as a result of Turkey's airstrike on people having a picnic in the Bamernê region of Amediye on Thursday, 2 children and 5 citizens were killed, the statement recalled, adding that “the international forces remained silent about these attacks and the KDP position, which tried to hide its responsibilities by hiding the perpetrators. Making the Kurdish people and their children pay for its own interests, the KDP's political path and methods are similar to the AKP-MHP mentality, and ultimately it serves the AKP-MHP fascism. We are calling out to the KDP once again to give up this betrayal and to take side with us. Otherwise, the Kurdish people will condemn you to the black pages of history.”

Attacks on funerals

The statement also condemned the attack on the funeral of Aysel Doğan, a member of the 2nd Peace Group, who died in Germany, and the prevention of the burial of Zeki Çelebi in Van.

Finally, the statement said: "We condemn once again these attacks on the common values, achievements and construction of our people's future. We call on the Kurdish people and all parties, institutions and democracy forces in Kurdistan to stand against war and betrayal in the spirit of National Unity."
