Soldiers blocked a DTK, DBP, HDP and Peace Mothers delegation heading to Xerabê Bava village. The delegation said they would wait there until the siege in the village is ended.
Soldiers prevented a DTK, DBP, HDP and Peace Mothers delegation from entering the Xerabê Bava (Koruköy) village in Mardin's Nusaybin district 15 kilometers to the village. The delegation is composed of DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven, DBP Group Deputy Chairperson Gülcihan Şimşek, DBP Deputy Co-chair Mehmet Arslan, HDP parliamentarians Ayşe Acar Başaran and Erol Dora, and Peace Mothers.
The soldiers deployed on the road stated that they received an instruction from the governorate to not allow anyone into/out of the village.
The delegation in response emphasized that they will not leave the area until their access to the village is granted, to which soldiers responded: “You will leave here but we will come face to face with the people here. Do not put us in a difficult position.”
It grabbed attention that an ambulance carrying soldiers and an earth digger were seen heading on a village road as the delegation was kept waiting in the area.
The delegation made a statement here in the face of the obstruction. HDP Mardin MP Erol Dora noted that no proper information has been received from the village for the past 10 days.
DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven stated that the operation in the village targeted civilians, saying: “The Turkish state announces having killed some people during operations so far. Bu there are hundreds of civilians in that village. We want the screams of mothers and children to be heard. Our attempt to enter the village is being blocked for the third time. Our calls for Cizre, Sur and Nusaybin had remained unanswered. Similarly, mothers are calling us today and saying that they are in a difficult situation. Right now, an ambulance is seen heading to the village. But we do not know who is dead and who is alive.”
Leyla Güven emphasized that the people of Nusaybin have always resisted and never knelt down, adding: “Reports are coming through that houses are being burned down. We would like to point out what kind of a village this is.
A curfew was declared in this village in 1995, peoples' homes were destroyed and they could not turn back home for many years. We know that Süleyman Soylu is a student of Mehmet Ağar. Ağar gives the instruction, Soylu carries it out. Süleyman Soylu should tell Mehmet Ağar 'You did everything in Kurdistan, they will not kneel now either no matter what I do.' Nobody can make this [Kurdish] people kneel. They will continue to survive just like they have done until now."
Güven stated that they would wait there until the siege on the village is ended, and said "If there is nothing to hide, why don't you let us pass? This means that you are carrying out a massacre there." Güven called upon everyone to struggle for the ending of the siege on the village.
