DTK: “Yesterday Armenians, today Kurds”

The DTK points out that the mentality that committed the Armenian Genocide is massacring Kurds today.

The Democratic Society Congress (Demokratik Toplum Kongresi - DTK) Peoples and Faiths Commission issued a written statement on the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“As a result of the single-state, single-nation, single-language policies developed under the Turkification umbrella, beginning with the Committee of Union and Progress, all Anatolian and Mesopotamian peoples have been subjected to overarching policies of genocide and assimilation, and they continue to be so still,” says the statement and continues: “The most extensive, damaging and irreparable among these genocidal practices has been, without a doubt, the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Close to one and a half million Armenians were massacred in this genocide. That much more were displaced and exiled from their homeland, all social dynamics formed over thousands of years of historical accumulation were destroyed.”

“DENIAL BRINGS ABOUT NEW MASSACRES”

DTK pointed out that the Turkish state has not confronted the reality of genocide and it continues with denialism: “As a result of this denial mentality, the genocidal policies imposed upon the Armenian people are today utilized against the Kurdish people.”

The statement also points out the genocidal attacks in Northern Kurdistan and Afrin.
