Kobanê Canton Executive Council President Enver Müslim has marked the November 1 World Kobanê Day saying; “Happy day of world humanity.”

Müslim said blood of youths from all nations coalesced into one in Kobanê, which is why the victory belongs not only to Kobanê people but also all the humanity. He underlined that Kobanê battle was based on defending the values and dignity of humanity.

Kobanê Canton Executive Council President Enver Müslim spoke about November 1 which was declared as World Kobanê Day by a number of intellectuals and institutions last year in solidarity with Kobanê town of Rojava, West Kurdistan, which left its mark on history with the historic resistance waged there against the attempts of savage ISIS gangs to occupy the Kurdish town.

'Kobanê is the shared value of humanity'

Pointing to the Kurdish people's tradition of self-defense and resistance, Müslim said; “Our people defended themselves and manifested their will in Kobanê. What they protected was not simply a piece of land but the shared values of humanity. This is why the blood of youths from all nations coalesced into one in Kobanê, and the victory belongs not only to us but also all the humanity.”

'The will of the people must be respected'

Calling attention to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister's remarks targeting Rojava and PYD (Democratic Union Party), Müslim recalled the recent attacks conducted by Turkish military against YPG/YPJ positions to the west and east of Kobanê Canton, adding; “This is the first time peoples in the Middle East are living equally with their own will. Everyone must treat this reality with respect and recognize this will.”
