The Ezidi Democracy and Freedom Party (PADÊ) continues to be busy with the campaign work for the Iraqi general elections to be held on May 12th.
As part of their election campaign, PADÊ candidates Semir Derwêş and Xwedêda Murad held a meeting in Shengal.
The candidates explained their commitments and programs for Şengal and its community and listened to the feedback by the participants.
Speaking at the meeting, Shengal Democratic Autonomy Council Co-President, Rîham Hico, said: "We, as parliament and Yezidi people, will fight with the same spirit of the Shengal resistance for the success of PADÊ. We believed that the program presented by the party and the two candidates collect and respond to the demand of the Yezidi people themselves. As people of Shengal, we all want Shengal to be recognized as a province affiliated to the Central Government and we, Yezidi people, want to live in peace”.
After the meeting, the candidates went to Shengal market to visit people and shopkeepers, handing out election leaflets and program.
The candidates, who were carrying out these visits together, distributed voting posters to the people: each candidate handed out the poster of the other candidate and asked citizens to vote for their friend.
