The state terror perpetrated in Şırnak's Cizre district has hurt and torn apart many families.

42-year-old Abdul Cebbar Takın, father of 5, was shot dead by Turkish snipers in the garden of his house in Cizre's Cudi neighborhood at the night of the new year when the most recent curfew was in force. State forces denied permission for his burial in his hometown, and threatened his family to bury him somewhere else. Taşkın was therewith laid to rest in Şırnak province.

The slain man's wife Zeycan Taşkın told that she bid farewell to two people from her family in the last 2 years. Her son Ferhat Taşkın (Ferman Agir) died fighting in the ranks of the YPG in Rojava, West Kurdistan.

Zeycan Taşkın stated that; “My son was killed by ISIS, and my husband was murdered by Turkish soldiers. We buried two people from this house in 2 years. The Turkish state attacked us more cruelly than the ISIS. We couldn't even leave our house for days. My husband was going to the lavatory in the garden when he was shot and killed by snipers positioned across our house. The state calls it an 'peace operation'. The atrocity committed against the people of Cizre will never be forgotten. My son and husband were killed by Turkish forces. They can by no manner of means be Muslim. May no other living being on the earth suffer such a savagery.”

Tezcan Taşkın, who is originally from Ağrı province but moved to Cizre 25 years ago, said her whole world came crashing down around her after the death of her husband who himself is from Cizre. She told the followings; "These savages have left me all alone with 4 children. My husband was working for the municipality for a living. The whole responsibility of these children is left to me now. I hope those who made us suffer this atrocity will be through the same. What did they want from us? Do they think they can finish this folk with massacres? The children, brothers and sisters of all those people they have killed will be facing them with a sense of revenge tomorrow."
