A festival kicked off in Makhmur, Southern Kurdistan to mark the birthday of Abdullah Öcalan.
April 4 Culture and Literature Festival has kicked off at Martyr Rüstem Cudi Refugee Camp on occasion of the birthday of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The festival, organized by Makhmur Education and Training Institution for the 11th time this year, will last two days.
The festival started with an inauguration ceremony at the football field in Makhmur with the attendance of civilians, students and representatives of institutions.
Makhmur Education and Training Institution Member Bêrîvan Demir stated that the festival marking Öcalan’s birthday will host several activities. Hundreds of young people are attending competitions as part of the festival.
An art exhibition has opened in Makhmur Conference Hall. The exhibition was inaugurated by Meryem Adanmış, mother of journalist Rizgar Adanmış who fell a martyr as a result of ISIS attacks in Deir ez-Zor countryside in December.
The festival will continue with sports, athleticism activities, plays and activities tomorrow.
