People's/Women's Defense Units (YPG/YPJ) have recently started a new training cycle in Rojava's Efrîn Canton as part of the ongoing efforts for the establishment of regiments.

Following the finalization of the training cycle which included political and military classes, the establishment of the military regiment was declared with a military ceremony joined by dozens of YPG/YPJ commanders, families of the fighters and many civilians.

Fighters officially joined the YPG/YPJ ranks after taking an oath during the ceremony, after which they were commissioned as 4 battalions within the body of the regiment.

4 military regiments were declared by YPG/YPJ in Kobanê Canton before, and preparations are ongoing for the establishment of regiments in Cizir Canton as well.
