Gorran and Komala call upon the UN to take action for Afrin

The Gorran Movement and the Komala Islami issued a joint statement condemning the threats of invasion against Afrin and called on the UN and the international public to take action against threats of attack.

The Gorran (Change) Movement and the Kurdistan Islamic Society Party’s (Komala Islami) groups in the Southern Kurdistan Parliament issued a joint written statement condemning the Turkish state’s invasion threats against Afrin.

The statement called on the international public to fulfill their responsibilities in the face of the threats against Afrin and said: “Our people in Rojava Kurdistan and Afrin are going through a delicate process and they are face to face with the threats of military action by the Turkish state. We strongly condemn these threats.”

The statement also called for the Southern Kurdistan Parliament to take a stand against the attacks: “The international public and the coalition against ISIS, and thus the US, are responsible for the safety of our brothers and sisters in Afrin. The Turkish state should respect the demands and choices of the Syrian peoples. The United Nations (UN), human rights organizations and the coalition against ISIS must take action against the attacks on Afrin.”
