Gorran Movement has announced their proposals for a resolution in the face of the developments following the independence referendum in Southern Kurdistan.
Gorran Movement has announced their proposals for a resolution in the face of the developments following the independence referendum in Southern Kurdistan.
The Gorran (Change) Movement of Southern Kurdistan made public the decisions made during their meeting which handled the attacks on Kirkuk and other regions in the wake of the controversial independence referendum.
The statement, read out by Gorran Spokesperson Şoreş Heci, includes the following points;
- The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President and Vice President have no legitimacy and must immediately relinquish their posts.
- Kurdistan Region must become parliamentary democracy and to that end position of the president of Kurdistan Region must be abolished.
- National salvation government must replace 8th KRG and start negotiations with Baghdad to safeguard and secure Kurdish rights.
- Gorran is meeting daily with our allies as coalition continues to grow and speaker of Kurdistan parliament is meeting with MPs from all sides.
- The High Council of Kurdistan has no legitimacy left.
- The federal government must immediately cease all military activities towards Kurdistan and compensate all those effected by the conflict in Tuz Khurmatu, Kirkuk, Khanaqin, Gulala, Shengal, Zumar, Makhmur and other areas.
- Dialogue between the KRG and federal government must base on the constitution and status of the Kurdistan Region.
