Guerrilla actions in Hakkari

HPG guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers in Çukurca and Şemdinli.

HPG Press Office released a statement about the most recent actions carried out by guerrillas against the Turkish army in Çukurca and Şemdinli districts of Hakkari.

Accordingly, guerrillas hit the Şiker outpost in Hakkari’s Çelê (Çukurca) district at 13:00 on January 22. Guerrillas targeted the emplacements and shelters in the outpost but the number of casualties suffered by the Turkish army couldn’t be clarified.

Turkish army had launched an invasion operation into the borders of Southern Kurdistan through Hakkari’s Şemzînan (Şemdinli) district on December 14, 2017.

Guerrillas hit the Turkish units deployed in Kanireş area at 14:00 on January 22. While the emplacements of Turkish soldiers were hit effectively, the number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn’t be clarified. At 22:00 the same day, Turkish army retrieved their casualties from the area with Sikorsky helicopters.

On January 22, Turkish warplanes shelled Karker hamlet in Zap region of Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan territory.
