The press centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) reported that four soldiers of the Turkish invading forces were killed on Saturday as a result of guerrilla actions in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).
According to the HPG, the Turkish army used chemical weapons twice and banned bombs of extremely high explosive power three times against guerrilla positions yesterday. The guerrilla areas were also attacked 27 times with fighter jets and twelve times with attack helicopters. Dozens of other attacks were carried out with howitzers, mortars, tanks and heavy weapons.
Guerrilla actions in the Zap region
Regarding the guerrilla actions in the Zap region, the HPG said that the Turkish invading forces were pushed back by guerrillas with light weapons near the Şehîd Botan position in Çemço. In the same area, three more actions with heavy weapons were carried out during the day, leaving three soldiers dead. While another action with heavy weapons took place in Sîda, a soldier was shot dead by a guerrilla sniper.
Airdropping operation at Girê Cûdî foiled
At Girê Cûdî, mobile guerrilla teams prevented a Turkish army airdropping operation at 4:20 am today. The approaching Sikorsky helicopters came under massive fire and had to turn around before troops could be dropped from the transport aircraft.
Attacks by the Turkish army
The Turkish army used banned bombs at Girê Amêdî and at the Şehîd Felat position in the resistance area of Sîda. The position in Sîda was additionally attacked twice with chemical weapons.
The surroundings of the villages of Yekmal and Dola Meranê in Gare, the Şehîd Şerîf area and the Lolan shore in Xakurke, as well as the Saca, Girê Bihar and Girê FM areas were bombed a total of 27 times by fighter jets. The twelve helicopter attacks were directed against Girê Amêdî and Girê FM. The artillery attacks affected Çemço, Sîda, Girê Amêdî, Girê Cûdî and Girê FM.
