According to the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), the guerrillas destroyed a tank and a drone of the Turkish army in Southern Kurdistan on Monday. "The Turkish state is the enemy of the peoples of the entire Middle East. In the face of its inhumane attack on civilians in Zakho, including children, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla continues its retaliatory actions. The guerrilla is the legitimate defence force of the peoples against the war crimes of the Turkish state. In their effective actions, at least five occupiers have been punished. One tank and one drone were destroyed, one military position was damaged," the HPG said.
The statement added: "The Turkish occupation forces have bombed the fighting positions in the resistance areas eight times with chemical weapons and explosives, 11 times with fighter planes, 17 times with attack helicopters and dozens of times with tanks and howitzers." According to the report, the chemical weapons attacks were carried out on the Girê Amêdî and Girê FM areas.
Guerrilla infiltrates enemy unit
Regarding the latest guerrilla actions, HPG informed that on 25 July at 1.40 a.m. a unit of the Turkish army in the Şikefta Birîndara area in the Zap was infiltrated from two sides. The first attack group destroyed a tank manned by soldiers, while the second group attacked an enemy position from a short distance with firearms. At least five soldiers were killed in the action. At 8.40am, guerrillas hit the Turkish troops in the area with heavy weapons.
On the same day, a drone was shot down in the Şehîd Adil area in the Zap region, and today at 7.15 a.m. an action of sabotage was carried out against the occupying forces in the Şehîd Umîd area.
On 24 July, guerrillas fired at attack helicopters in the Girê Hekarî, and the helicopters had to turn around after the intervention.
