The Press Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement about the latest actions by guerrillas and attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The statement published on Friday includes the following:
“On December 5 at 14:20, a Turkish military position on Hill Lêlkan, Xakurke was struck by our forces in a coordinated guerrilla action from two sides. The position was destroyed together with the soldiers in it.
At noon on December 7, Turkish drones were targeted by our forces in the Cîloyê Biçûk area in Zap region. Following the intervention of our forces, the drones had to withdraw from the area.
On December 9, between 09:45 and 10:00, the Turkish army heavily bombed the areas of Kûnîşka, Girê Şehîd Fedakar and Şehîd Şahan in the Zap region, and the Şehîd Rûstem and Saca areas were shelled by fighter jets between 19:00 and 19:10.
The Turkish army, which received a heavy blow during the Revolutionary Operation carried out by the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla in the Zap region, wants to cover up its defeat through large-scale air strikes against the Zap region. We did not suffer any casualties during these futile attacks carried out desperately by the colonial Turkish state.
The invasion operation launched on November 18 after large-scale air strikes by the Turkish army in the Şehîd Ehmed area of Xakurkê is continuing. Detailed information about the operation will be shared with the public soon.
On December 7, between 12:00 and 13:00, the Turkish army bombed the Şehîd Şerif area in Xakurkê region by fighter jets.”
