Guerrillas launch revolutionary operation against Turkish troops in Heftanîn

HPG Press Centre reported that guerrilla forces destroyed three military positions in a revolutionary operation in Heftanîn.

The Press Office of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement providing details of the latest actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish troops in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Accordingly, guerrillas carried out a close-range assault against the Turkish troops in Heftanîn on October 30. Three positions of the Turkish army were struck from two directions and destroyed. Guerrillas also targeted Turkish forces in Xakûrkê while fighting erupted in Avaşîn.

HEFTANIN

The action in Heftanîn was carried out by two attack groups and took place on October 30 at seven in the morning in the Keşan area. The guerrilla fighters approached the Turkish unit, then the first group struck with semi-automatic weapons and destroyed three emplacements, killing the soldiers inside. The second group stormed more positions with hand grenades and firearms. The soldiers of the Turkish unit then fled from the top of the mountain into the terrain. A mortar position, a BKC machine gun position, an observation post and two tents with military equipment were destroyed. Meanwhile, the first action group reached the bodies of two soldiers and recovered a grenade launcher. The second group seized three rifles from four other bodies.

"All targeted positions of the occupying forces were successfully destroyed. During the retreat, one of our comrades was wounded. Because our forces wanted to bring the wounded person(s) safely out of the area, there were intense clashes with the occupiers. The results of the battles will be published in detail at a later date," HPG said.

XAKURKE

Also on October 30, guerrillas infiltrated a Turkish military position in the vicinity of the village of Dayîlan between the Girê Lêlîkan and Girê Kevortê hills in Xakurke, targeting the occupiers with hand grenades and close-range firearms. At least three soldiers were killed and two others were wounded during the course of the action, after which the Turkish army conducted an operation in the field together with a unit of the KDP. The operation was suspended the next day without results.

Guerrillas from the Free Women's Troops (YJA Star) carried out a coordinated action with two attack groups against the Turkish occupation forces at Girê Koordîne in Xakurke on October 31. The first group attacked from close range an observation post containing two soldiers. The post was destroyed and the soldiers were killed. The second group destroyed two surveillance camera systems, a lighting system, a solar panel and a projector. According to HPG, the action was carried out as part of the “Time to Defend Free Women and Society Against Femicides” campaign launched by the KJK (Kurdistan Women's Communities).

OCCUPATION OPERATION AND ATTACKS

The HPG statement further said that an occupation operation launched on Oct. 21 by the Turkish army in the Girê Kartal, Girê Şehîd Rizgar, Girê Şehîd Fırat, Girê Şehîd Elî and Girê Şehîd Diren areas of Avaşîn ended on Oct. 29, and the units involved were withdrawn.

On Monday, the Tabura Ereba area in Avaşîn was targeted by attack helicopters. On the same day, airstrikes were carried out with fighter jets and helicopters on the areas of Kunîşka, Karker, Girê Rûbar and Tîpa T in the Zap region. Today, the areas of Şikefta Birîndara and Çiyayê Rêş, also in Zap, were bombed by fighter jets and helicopters.
