A delegation of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is in Southern Kurdistan to hold talks with various parties. On Monday, HDP delegates met representatives of Tevgera Azadî.
HDP Chairperson Pervin Buldan and MPs Berdan Öztürk, Osman Baydemir, İmam Taşçıer and Feleknaz Uca met with representatives of Tevgera Azadi (Movement for a Democratic Society in Kurdistan) in Sulaymaniyah.
After a one-hour conversation, representatives of both parties held a joint press briefing. Berdan Öztürk of the HDP said that the talks held so far with all parties were intended to convene a national congress in light of the current political situation. Due to the intensive attacks in Bashur, Bakur and Rojava (Southern, Northern and Western Kurdistan) urgent joint action is required, said Öztürk: "Starting with Kirkuk, the invasion of Efrîn and the invasive attacks now point to Southern Kurdistan, which is the underlying plan. We have to take a big step accordingly. We have to establish national unity."
Tara Hüseyin of Tevgera Azadî also pointed out that for the Kurds there is no alternative but to act together.
After two days of talks in Hewlêr (Erbil), the HDP delegation visited the PUK headquarters in addition to Tevgera Azadî. The series of talks will be continued on Tuesday with other parties.
