The HDP delegation that went to Dersim to investigate the forest fires was obstructed by Turkish security forces on Pertek road too.
A delegation of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) MPs arrived in Dersim today to act against the forest fires started by the state forces. The delegation is made up of HDP Deputy Group Chairperson Ayhan Bilgen, Dersim MP Alican Önlü, MPs Mahmut Toğrul, Erkan Baş, Meral Danış Beştaş, Erdal Aydemir, Murat Çepni, Mehmet Tiryaki, Dilşat Canbaz and Kemal Bülbül.
Earlier today, the delegation left for Bali Stream where a wildfire continues, but faced obstruction, first on Ovacık road and then on Hozat road, on the grounds of “ongoing military operations in the region”.
HDP deputies then staged sit-in on Hozat road in protest at the obstruction before trying to reach the forest fire area through Pertek region. The delegation was blocked by Turkish soldiers here as well and was not allowed to enter Pertek district in accordance with the instruction of the district governor Arif Gül.
After continued efforts here which yielded no results, the delegation returned to Dersim city centre where they will hold a press conference in the evening.
