A press conference held at Vedat Aydın Conference Hall in Amed (Diyarbakır), marked the start of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) election campaign.

HDP Amed Provincial Elections Coordination went through the organisational details for the next election explaining how the HDP campaign will develop to the press and to the provincial and district administrators and the large crowd that attended the meeting.

HDP Diyarbakir Provincial Co-Chair Şerif Çamçi emphasised that the 24 June snap election “is actually the result of both the absence and the existence of the current regime which is in a profound crisis.

Çamçi said: "The AKP-MHP coalition would like to win these elections to be able to complete the structuring of its fascist authoritarian regime. For this reason the regime is making both domestic and foreign political moves to ensure the outcome it would like to see after these elections. In short, these elections are a result of the existence-absence of a regime in deep crisis”.

Çamçi went on explaining that “the AKP-MHP alliance sees the HDP as the biggest obstacle on its road which is why it made the HDP a target”. The HDP executive continued: “In order to prevent any attack on our people we will make sure that all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety both of voters and our people”.

To struggle is our only option

Noting that there is no alternative but to struggle, Çamçi said: “No matter the circumstances, we will continue to fight together with all democratic forces with determination and with high morale and dedication. Because as a party, we owe this to the people of Turkey, fulfil their hopes and resist until eliminating the dark, oppression and destruction policies of this alliance. So we cannot do anything else but fight”.

Provincial Co-Chairman Çamçi ended his speech by saying: “Every vote given to the HDP will be an answer to the crimes against our people; every vote given to the HDP will be a declaration that we do not submit despite all the pressures. Every vote to the HDP will mean that the struggle for women freedom will get bigger. Every vote given to HDP will be the youth statement for a better future. Every vote given to HDP will open the road leading to freedom. We invite everybody to cast their vote and choose the HDP”.
