HDP’s Zeydan sentenced to eight years in prison

A Turkish court sentenced Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Abdullah Zeydan to eight years in prison.

Diyarbakir 5th Criminal Court sentenced HDP MP Zeydan to eight years one month and 15 days in prison for “making propaganda of a terrorist organization” and “supporting a terrorist organization”.

The court ignored the decision by the Regional Court of Appeal which overturned the case, and gave Zeydan the exact same prison sentence.

Zeydan is currently imprisoned in Edirne F Type Prison and wasn’t present at the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
