HDP district co-chairs Aycan Azma and Ali Balın had been taken into custody as part of the political genocide operations against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) in Şırnak's Silopi district on December 17.

The co-chairs were referred to court today. Both were formally arrested for alleged “membership to a terrorist organisation” and sent to Şırnak T Type Closed Prison.

DBP member Tuncay İnal who was detained alongside the HDP co-chairs is expected to be referred to court tomorrow.
