HPG: 20 soldiers including one lieutenant colonel killed in Binbir area

HPG reported that 20 soldiers including one lieutenant colonel, two sergeants and one lieutenant were killed as a result of an action conducted by guerrillas against Turkish troops that attempted to enter the area of Hill Martyr Rojin in Binbir area.

People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office has reported in a written statement that 20 soldiers including one lieutenant colonel, two sergeants and one lieutenant were killed as a result of an action conducted by guerrillas against Turkish troops that attempted to enter the area of Hill Martyr Rojin in the scope of the ongoing operation in Binbir area.

People’s Defense Forces reported in detail about the operations and the attacks carried out by the Turkish army despite the declaration of unilateral inaction by KCK on October 10.

HPG reported that Turkish troops continue the operation in Binbir area of Hakakri's Yüksekova district in an attempt to extend it towards Şemzinan (Şemdinli) region by using all technical means available. Sikorsky helicopters airdropped soldiers in the area in the evening of October 17.

For the past three days, heavy clashes are taking place between guerrillas and soldiers on Hill Martyr Rojin where Turkish troops attempted to infiltrate by means of intense bombardments by jets, tanks and mortar fire on October 16 evening. Soldiers were forced to retreat as a result of effective hits by guerrillas that noticed the attempt and intervened the scene.

Guerrillas conducted effective actions against the troops that once again attempted to infiltrate into the area from four sides with the support of jets as of early morning hours of October 17.

A total of 20 soldiers were killed in clashes in this area, who include one lieutenant colonel by the name of İhsan Ejdar, two sergeants and one lieutenant.

While the soldiers were forced to retreat from the area after suffering heavy blows, renewed fighting erupted between two sides at 17:00 in the evening following intense bombardments by jets.

ACTON AGAINST BİLİCAN GUARD POST

Guerrillas conducted an expansive action against Bilican guard post at the border to Zap region of PKK-held Medya Defense Zones between 13.00 - 14.00 on October 17. The action by guerrillas caused three explosions in the building of the guard post, which started a big fire here.

Guerrillas also hit the Bilican Regiment, leaving one ammunition store damaged and two military vehicles unusable. While the exact number of casualties couldn't be verified, Turkish army shelled the areas of Marty Colomerg, Marty Baran, Garêya Piçuk and Erbiş village with the support of UAVs after the action which was carried out in retaliation for the ongoing operation of the Turkish army in Geliyê Dostki and Binbir areas.

ACTION AGAINST OREMAR GUARD POST

Guerrillas conducted another action with heavy weapons against the Oremar guard post in Yüksekova between 10.00-13.30 on October 17. The casualties left by the action couldn't be made clear.

As part of the expansive operation in Sisê area of Amed's Lice district which was launched on October 15, Turkish troops shelled the area with artillery and tank fire between 16:00-18:00 the same day, and launched a bombardment with jets at 00:00 at night.

The Turkish troops that started a ground operation in the area in the morning of October 16 were hit by guerrillas from three sides, but the casualties couldn't be verified.

Turkish soldiers later entered the cemetery of guerrillas in the area, demolished it and set the surrounding areas on fire before retreating from the terrain on October 18 (today). While contact has been lost with some guerrillas in the region, detailed information on the operation will be made public once made clear.

CEMETERY OF GUERRILLAS IN DERSİM SHELLED BY JETS

The 'Martyr Baran Cemetery' in Dersim, as well as the areas of Zagê and Sırta Mala Xebat were bombed by Turkish jets on October 15 in the wake of reconnaissance flights over the area as of early morning hours. The same area was shelled by jets once again at 07:00 on October 17.

A ground operation was started in the region after Turkish helicopters airdropped soldiers in the area. As the operation continues, details will be released later.

TURKISH ARMY OPERATION IN KOP CONTINUES

As the operation started by Turkish troops in Kop district of Muş on October 12 continues, clashes are taking place between guerrillas and soldiers in some locations. One guerrilla who was captured wounded during the operation, was later murdered by soldiers.
