HPG: 36 soldiers killed in Şemdinli in three days

HPG Press Office reported that 14 more soldiers have been killed in guerrilla actions in the rural areas of Şemdinli. A total of 36 soldiers were killed in this region in three days.

HPG Press Office released the balance sheet of clashes and guerrilla actions in the rural areas of Hakkari's Şemdinli district where Turkish army launched an operation.

Having announced previously that 22 soldiers had been killed in this region, HPG said 14 more soldiers have been killed in this territory, including one high-ranking.

HPG continued, providing details of the clashes and guerrilla actions during the Turkish army operation from July 31 to August 1 between Serero, Bêtkarok and Şapatan villages of Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district.

Accordingly, a group of 8 soldiers were ambushed and hit by guerrillas as they headed from Bêtkarok to Serero village at 06:30 on July 31. Six soldiers were killed and two others were wounded here.

Another group of soldiers reinforced to the scene was also hit, as a result of which 4 more soldiers were killed.

At 09:00 the same day, guerrillas hit another military unit on move in Serero area, leaving three soldiers dead.

At 10:30, one lieutenant was killed in an assassination action.

HPG said guerrillas hindered the advance of the Turkish troops and failed the operation in this area with their actions. Soldiers partaking in the operation were forced to retreat.

HPG reported that these recent actions by guerrillas left 14 soldiers dead and dozens of others wounded.

One guerrilla fell a martyr in the clashes of July 31 and one other on August 2. Details of the two guerrillas will be announced soon.
