HPG: 36 Turkish soldiers killed in guerrilla actions

36 soldiers of the Turkish army have been killed in the latest guerrilla actions in southern Kurdistan. The guerrillas also shot down a drone and seized numerous weapons.

In the latest guerrilla actions in the resistance against the Turkish invasion in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), 36 occupants have been killed and another seven injured. According to the daily statement of the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), a Turkish drone was shot down and two military helicopters were damaged by the guerrillas' fire. The guerrillas were able to recover weapons and military equipment from the invading forces, including two HK416s (assault rifles made by the German arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch), a Glock pistol, laser pointers, infrared technology and radios. Because the Turkish army continuously hides its losses, the guerrillas recovered two bodies "as evidence", the HPG said.

The Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives 13 times against guerrilla positions on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Turkish fighter jets carried out 22 attacks and helicopters carried out 33 attacks on the guerrilla areas. At Girê FM, trees were felled by the invading forces.
