HPG Media Center issued a written statement on recent guerilla actions and clashes. HPG stated that guerillas carried out an action against Turkish soldiers positioned on the Şehidan and Omerya Hills of Şırnak’s Uludere district at 12:00 on May 28. HPG said that at least 40 soldiers were killed, and 2 tanks and 3 diggers were destroyed during the effective action.

YJA STAR ACTION IN AMED

The Media Center announced that YJA STAR guerillas carried out a series of assassination actions against the Lice District Gendarme Battalion in Amed on May 28, and 2 soldiers were killed and 1 soldier was injured during the action. HPG noted that another soldier was killed during a guerilla action on the Şex Cuma outpost in Bitlis at 16:00 on May 28.

‘GUERILLA FORCES ARE BLAMED FOR THE MEHMET ACU EVENT’

In its statement, HPG criticized the attempts of Erdoğan and AKP officials to blame the death of Mehmet Acu in Mardin’s Yeşilli district on May 27 on the Freedom Movement. HPG noted that the use of phrases such as PKK/YPG in the reports of Turkish war media expose the wrongful accusations, and emphasized that state forces were behind the dirty murder of Mehmet Acu.

WARNING TO VILLAGE GUARDS

HPG stated that village guards were collaborating with soldiers and trying to identify the locations of guerilla units in Van’s Çaldıran district, and called upon the village guards to stop participating in such efforts.

WARPLANES BOMBARDED METİNA REGION

Lastly, HPG Media Center announced that Turkish warplanes bombarded the Tepê Ortê area of Medya Defense Zones’ Metina region between 08:30 and 08:40 on May 29.
