The press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) announced the martyrdom of six guerrilla fighters in the province of Mardin. According to the HPG statement published on Sunday, two guerrilla groups were discovered by a secret unit of the Turkish army in the Şehîd Merwan area on Mount Bagok on May 7. The Turkish military sent reconnaissance drones to the area and launched an operation. On May 8, the area where the HPG's two small groups were located was bombed by fighter jets and six helicopters for hours beginning at noon. One female fighter and five male fighters fell as martyrs here.

Bager Serxwebûn came from Kiziltepe, grew up in a patriotic environment and joined the guerrilla as a student. For him, guerrilla life was not only a form of struggle but also of a free life. He fought in different areas and was trained at the Apollo Academy of Guerrilla. From there, he returned to his homeland, Mardin as a commander.
Silav Ronahî came from a family from İdil district of Şırnak province belonging to the Didêrî tribe. She was born in Adana and resisted the Turkish policy of assimilation. At the time of the ISIS attack on Kobanê in 2014, she decided to fight actively. Her determination and anger grew even stronger when the Turkish state began razing entire neighborhoods in North Kurdistan to the ground in 2015. She joined the Civil Defense Units (YPS) and fought in Kurdish cities. She later joined the women's guerrilla troop YJA Star and moved to Mardin as a commander in 2017.
Bager Tolhildan was born in Nusaybin, Mardin province. His family has close ties to the Kurdish liberation struggle; his uncle Ferhat (Abdullah Aslan) was martyred as an area commander of Bagok in Nusaybin in 1996. Bager became active in the youth movement in 2011 and was arrested as a teenager in 2012. After two and a half years in prison, he joined the guerrilla at Bagok and participated in the urban resistance in Nusaybin in 2015. He then went to the Medya Defense Zones, completed ideological and military training, and returned to Mardin as a commander.
Sîdar Rizok was born in İdil and grew up in a patriotic environment. During his studies, he joined the guerrilla and fought in Heftanin for three years. He participated in special military trainings and also gave lessons himself. In 2019, he went to Mardin.
Rizgar Koçer was born into a patriotic nomadic family in Nusaybin and joined the guerrillas in the Besta area of Botan in 2015. There he fought in a mobile unit and quickly gained great experience in guerrilla warfare. From Botan, he went to Mardin, where he played a leading role in numerous actions.
Agir Qoser was born in Kızıltepe and grew up in the Kurdish resistance atmosphere. The revolution in Rojava and the massacres of the Kurdish people exerted a great influence on his development. During the ISIS attack on Kobanê, he actively participated in the uprisings in Turkey. After that he joined the guerrilla, and his first area of practice was the Zap region. In the Zagros Mountains, he learned practical guerrilla combat and was later trained in sabotage techniques. In 2018, he went back to North Kurdistan.
HPG expresses their condolences to the families of the martyrs, the people of Mardin and the Kurdish people as a whole and declared that the martyrs will live on in the struggle.
