HPG released a statement detailing the most recent airstrikes conducted by Turkish military against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory
HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has released a statement detailing the most recent airstrikes conducted by Turkish military against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory. The statement also provided information regarding the aerial activity by Turkish aircraft and the ongoing Turkish military activities in Hakkari.
People's Defense Forces underlined that the Turkish army wants to accomplish a result now by bombing guerrilla areas after failing to break the growing resistance of Kurdistan people in towns.
ZAP AND GARE SHELLED
The statement by HPG Press Office reported that Turkish jets shelled;
- Çemço, Sida and Gundê Fılleha areas in Zap region of Medya Defense Zones between 21.00 - 00.00 yesterday evening,
- Deşta Kafya and Çemşerite hamlets in Garê area of Medya Defense Zones between 21.00 – 23.00 yesterday evening.
TURKISH HELICOPTER HIT IN HAKKARİ
HPG statement reported intense activity of Sikorsky helicopters in the areas of Oremar outpost, Martyr Zerdeşt and Martyr Şiyar hills in Hakkari's Yüksekova (Gever) district between 10.00 – 11.00 this morning.
One of the helicopters was effectively hit by guerrillas while preparing to airdrop soldiers on Martyr Zerdeşt hill, which forced it retreat back to Oremar outpost.
Guerrillas also conducted assassination actions against soldiers moving from Oremar outpost to Martyr Zerdeşt Hill, but the number of casualties couldn't be made clear. Troops at Oremar shelled Martyr Gafur hill after the action of guerrillas.
RECONNAISSANCE ACTIVITIES
HPG reported reconnaissance activity by Turkish aircraft over the following locations in Medya Defense Zones;
- Zap region between 10.00 - 00.00 on 12 January,
- Avashin area between 15.00- 04.00 on 12–13 January,
- Garê area between 18.00 – 05.00 on 12–13 January,
- Heftanin area between 23:00-02:00 on 11-12 January.
