HPG statement on Turkish military operation and bombardment

HPG reported Turkish military operation in the rural areas of Hakkari province in Northern Kurdistan and aerial bombardments on Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan.

People’s Defense Forces Press and Communications Center (HPG-BIM) released a statement about the Turkish army’s operation in Şemdinli and bombardment against Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan territory.

The statement provided the following information:

OPERATION IN ŞEMDINLI

On March 23, the invading Turkish army launched an operation after airdropping soldiers with Sikorsky helicopters in Govende area in the countryside of Hakkari’s Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district. Turkish Cobra type helicopters bombed Herguş village and Deriye Pan hamlet at between 23:00 and 00:00 on March 26 night. At between 22:00 on March 26 and 06:30 on March 27, the invading Turkish army shelled Mamreşo area with howitzer and mortar fire.

AIRSTRIKE AND BOMBARDMENT

On March 26, warplanes of the invading Turkish army carried out airstrikes on Medya Defense Zones.

The bombardments at between 20:00 and 21:00 targeted;

Dola Zergelê and Kozine hamlet in Qandil region,

Kevorkê hamlet in Xakurke region,

Şkefta Brindara, Werxelê, Saca and Çemço hamlets in Zap region.

In the morning of March 27, Turkish jets bombarded the foothills of Şkefta Brindara and surroundings of Kokerê village in Zap region.

A bridge used by the local people was demolished as a result of aerial attacks.
