Ten soldiers have been killed in the latest guerrilla actions in the resistance against the Turkish invasion in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), reported the press office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) in its daily statement on the war in Kurdistan. The guerrillas also destroyed two thermal cameras, one surveillance camera and four Turkish military positions. The Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives 21 times against the guerrillas' underground defences. The guerrilla areas were bombed eight times by fighter jets and 19 times by attack helicopters, according to the HPG.
Regarding the latest guerrilla actions and the occupation attacks by the Turkish army, the HPG provided the following information:
Three soldiers killed in Zap
On Tuesday evening, a soldier was shot by an HPG sniper when his unit was about to carry out detonations at the Şehîd Hewrê tunnel. The unit then withdrew. Shortly after midnight, two more soldiers were shot dead by snipers from the YJA Star (Free Women's Troops).
Turkish position in Metîna destroyed
Also at Girê Hekarî, a soldier was killed by an HPG sniper on Tuesday. At five o'clock on Wednesday morning, guerrilla fighters struck a Turkish military position in the area with semi-automatic weapons. The position was completely destroyed and one soldier was killed.
Coordinated guerrilla action in Avaşîn
At Girê Kanî Biyê in the Mervanos area, a coordinated guerrilla action by guerrillas targeted the Turkish invading forces early on Tuesday morning. While an A4 position was destroyed and two soldiers in the position were killed at first, another action by guerrillas targeted a position containing three soldiers and a thermal camera system. The soldiers were killed, the position and a thermal camera were destroyed. In a following action, guerrillas destroyed another position, another thermal camera and a surveillance camera.
Grey poison gas with an acrid smell
The guerrilla tunnels in the Werxelê, Karker and Şehîd Şahîn resistance areas were attacked with explosives on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, an attack with chemical weapons was carried out on the Şehîd Zemanî tunnel at Girê Hekarî. According to HPG information, the agent used here had a grey colouring and spread an odour like pungent detergent.
The areas of Girê Cûdî, Werxelê, Saca, Çemço and Çirav (Gare) were bombed by fighter jets a total of eight times on 14 June. On Monday and Tuesday, HPG recorded 19 strikes by attack helicopters on the Girê FM, Girê Cûdî, Girê Hekarî and Kurojahro areas. The areas of Girê Amêdî, Girê Cûdî and Şehîd Şahîn were bombed by howitzers.
