People's Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) has released a statement providing information about the airstrikes conducted by Turkish jets against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory last night.

CIVILIAN SETTLEMENTS TARGETED IN ZAP

HPG-BIM said Turkish airstrikes targeted the following locations in Medya Defense Zones between 22.00 - 23.30 yesterday;

- surroundings of Bolê and Bukriskan villages in Qandil,

- Martyr Kerim area in Xakurkê,

- Dola Arıs Farıs area in Avashin,

- surroundings of Deşta Kafya and Martyr Akif Yılmaz Cemetery in Garê,

- Kanî Sarkê and Martyr Rüstem areas in Zap.

Bombardments in Zap region demolished the houses of the people living in the targeted area.

OPERATION IN ŞEMDİNLİ

According to the HPG-BIM statement, Turkish military has started a new operation in the areas of Nêrduşa, Kolê, Biya Horê, Bihê and Spirêz villages in Hakkari's Şemdinli district at 00.00 – 01.00 today.

While soldiers have been airdropped into the area, the troops joining the operation are conducting searches in villages and have set up check points on the roads in the region.

MILITARY ACTIVITY IN ÇELÊ

The statement by HPG-BIM said troops affiliated to Bilican outpost in Çelê district of Hakkari have been laying ambushes and conducting reconnaissance activities around Güvenlik, Talısa, Martyr Dünya, Martyr Avareş and Bayrak hills since 6 December.

ZAP BORDERLINE SHELLED

Troops at Bilican guard post at the border to Zap region of Medya Defense Zones shelled the surrounding areas between 01.30 – 02.00 today.

Troops at Oremar outpost in Hakkari's Yüksekova district bombed the areas of Satê and Hill Martyr Gafur near Avashin border between 09.00 - 11.00 on 7 December.

AERIAL ACTIVITY OVER ZAP, HEFTANIN, GARÊ AND AVASHIN

Turkish aircraft performed reconnaissance flights over;

- Zap region between 15:00 yesterday and 10:00 today,

- Garê area between 22.30 yesterday and 04.30 today,

- Heftanin area between 07.30 – 13.30 yesterday,

- Avashin area for the past two days.

HPG-BIM also reported an activity of Turkish warplanes over Heftanin area between 08.00 – 13.00 yesterday.
