The Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has released a statement providing information on a guerrilla action in Hakkari and the recent air attacks of the Turkish army on the Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan.
On August 31, the Turkish army launched a military operation in the region of Mount Sümbül in Hakkari where undercover units laid ambushes, according to the statement. One of the operation units was camped in the Sirte Ezizane area and was observed by the guerrilla for a while. On August 2, the unit was struck from close range, which left two soldiers dead and others injured. The Turkish army transported the dead and injured with military helicopters. The operation was stopped in the evening without further results.
Air attacks on Southern Kurdistan
HPG also reported continued air raids by the Turkish army on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. Accordingly, bombardments by Turkish jets targeted the around the river Lolan and the Berbizina upland in Xakurke region and the area of Werxele in Avashin region on September 4. The statement added that guerrillas suffered no casualties in these attacks.
