HPG: We won't remain silent against the attacks on our cemeteries

HPG reported that Turkish jets bombed the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs in Qandil, stressing that they will not remain silent against those carrying out these attacks.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement regarding yesterday's airstrikes carried out by Turkish warplanes on Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.

The statement by HPG is as follows:

"The fascist AKP government and dictator Erdoğan that increasingly continue their attacks in the face of the growing Kurdistan freedom struggle of ours have carried out airstrikes targeting the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs where hundreds of martyred guerrillas are buried, the grave of Ahmet İnce (Ape Hasan) who greatly laboured for the construction of this cemetery, and the Museum of Martyrs visited by our people coming from four parts of Kurdistan. The Museum of Martyrs and graves of many fallen guerrillas were demolished as result of the strikes.

It must be known that we will not remain silent against these attacks that targeted our Cemetery of Martyrs, the biggest sentimental value of our people."

HPG continued, giving the following details regarding the Turkish airstrikes;

At between 20:00 and 20:40 on February 17, Turkish fighters jets carried out a bombardment targeting the village of Qalatuka and Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs in Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones. The region of Metina was also hit by Turkish warplanes during the same hours. The People's House in the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs was demolished as result of the bombardment.

Again on February 17, Turkish jets bombed the Çemço area in Zap region of Medya Defense Zones at 20:20."
