The Kurdistan Human Rights Association (KMMK) reported that operations targeting students, civil society activists, teachers, journalists and artists in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran are continuing.

The KMMK stated that at least 114 Kurds were detained in the provinces of Urmia, Sine, Kermanshah and Ilam, as well as Tehran and Karaj in Iran in the latest crackdown that started on January 8.

The KMMK denounced that the latest mass detentions have trampled on human rights.

According to the association's report, those detained were mistreated. Some of the families were allowed to meet their children during which speaking Kurdish was forbidden.

According to the KMMK, some families reported that the detainees were tortured. The authorities refused to inform families about where the detainees were being held.

The KMMK condemned the detentions and called on international human rights organizations to raise their voice.

According to the KMMK, the numbers of those detained in several areas are as follows: 21 people in Bokan, 15 in Mahabad, 15 in Shino, 11 in Nexede, 11 in Marivan, 8 in Piranshahr, 8 in Sine, 5 in Kermanshah, 5 in Paveh, 4 in Saqiz, 4 in Sawlawa (Havraman), 3 in Rabat, and 1 in Ilam.
