Iranian soldiers massacre 2 villagers

Iranian soldiers massacred 2 villagers doing border trade in the Giwêzilê village of Serdeşt.

1 person carrying out border trade was killed during the attack of Iranian soldiers in the Giwêzilê village of Serdeşt on Tuesday. 1 more person was killed during the protests of the murder, and clashes in the region continue.

According to South Kurdistan-based Roj News agency, the Giwêzilê village of Serdeşt has been under the blockade of Iranian soldiers, who confiscate the goods of villagers and prevent them from doing trade border. Villagers condemned the attack of the soldiers, and stated that the soldiers killed two people from Serdeşt named Letif and Reuf Alixani on June 28.

Human Rights Organization administrator Cehangir Abdullahi stated that Itanian soldiers opened fire on border traders near Kelwê creek in the village of Giwêzilê last Tuesday, and Reuf Alixani lost his life and 4 people got injured during the attack. Soldiers also seized the goods of the villagers and killed their horses, and villagers went to the nearby Iranian army base in order to learn why Reuf Alixani was killed. Soldiers attacked the protesting villagers and clashes broke out near the army base. One Iranian commander was killed, and Reuf Alixani’s brother Letif Alixani died during the clashes.

Iranian soldiers are reported to threatened to shoot anyone that leaves the village of Giwêzilê, and build pressure on civilians from the town of Rebet and nearby villages.

Young people from Giwêzilê and Bêwran villages then raided the army base on July 1 and liberated the villagers that had been detained by the soldiers. Confrontation between the locals and Iranian soldiers continue in the region.
