Kars Co-mayors: The people will govern the city

HDP’s newly elected Kars Co-mayors Sevin Alaca and Ayhan Bilgen met with the public.

Peoples’ Democratic Party’s newly elected Co-mayors for the province of Kars, Sevin Alaca and Ayhan Bilgen, met with the public today. Sevin Alaca said they will include all of the people of Kars in their work and added: “Our ballot officers defended the votes and managed to save the will of our people in the ballots. We thank all who worked in the elections, all the people of Kars and all the diversity in the city. We won this victory together, we will govern the city together.”

BILGEN: THERE WON’T BE ANY DISCRIMINATION, ONLY SERVICES

Ayhan Bilgen also spoke and said:

“Without any fanaticism for any parties, or any small calculations, there is a responsibility to do whatever needs to be done for Kars and to meet the demands and expectations of the people. Whoever acts in petty calculations will have to answer to the people in the next elections. We accept to be held to account if we exclude any other political parties. All in all, the people expect services. We will not discriminate for people’s politics, and we expect the same understanding and maturity from other political parties.

“THE PEOPLE WILL GOVERN THE CITY”

We thank the people of Kars who allowed us this success. We congratulate all parties, candidates, councillors who participated in the elections and candidates who weren’t elected. We stated throughout our campaign that this city should not be governed by one person or party, but the people. Today the city needs mobilization. We need to come together and take the city out of the slump it’s been in. As such, we will work together for the good of the city with our 3 quota city council members, 8 city council members, 2 provincial council members and council members from other parties. We said in our campaign that politicians and administrators must be overseen and inspected, must be accountable, transparent and participatory. Today we say the same things. If the people of Kars chose this administrative model, if they support this method, they will do what is necessary in the future as well.”
