The Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) has issued a statement on the current Covid-19 pandemic. The statement says: "The Covid-19 pandemic has spread around the world. The AKP/MHP government has tried to present itself as successful by claiming for two months that there is no virus in Turkey. This attempt to hold on to power allowed the virus to spread freely in the country for two months. That is why the coronavirus numbers in Turkey are rising so rapidly. Especially in the big cities where Kurd live and in the metropolises the epidemic has caused many deaths. Many Kurds are among the dead. We wish all Kurdish, Turkish, Circassian, Laz, Arab and Christian families our sincere condolences.

This epidemic has a particularly negative effect on the lives of Kurds. In the metropolises many Kurdish families are practically no longer able to support themselves. Therefore it is important that the Kurds in the metropolises of Turkey and Kurdistan show solidarity with each other. The AKP/MHP government has not given up its polarizing and discriminatory policy even at the times of Coronavirus. This makes solidarity all the more important. That is why we attach the greatest importance to the twin family campaign. In these times, solidarity as a society and people is particularly important.

The spread of Covid-19 has also a strong negative influence on Kurds in Europe. Especially in France and England, as in many other countries, many people from our patriotic population have died. We wish the families of all deceased in Europe and our entire people our sincere condolences.

There are patriotic Kurds living in Europe who have contributed to our fight for freedom in every way for decades. With the labor of decades, a democratic Kurdish society has been built in Europe. The activists who died in this pandemic will always remain in the memory of the freedom struggle of our people. Our Syriac people in Europe have also made an important contribution to our struggle for freedom. We also wish our sincere condolences to the relatives of their deceased by Covid-19.

The Kurdish population in Europe has become a democratic society. We are convinced that our people will overcome the problems with strong solidarity in this time of pandemic. Our people in Europe have supported the people in Kurdistan materially and morally during the hardest times. They have shown an exemplary attitude. Now they are taking responsibility in the twin family campaign. We congratulate the Kurdish people in Europe and their friends for their attitude.

Our people in Europe and all over the world should know that organization and solidarity are the main foundations of the struggle. With these, societies can overcome all difficulties and they give strength to the struggle. Strong solidarity comes with strong organisation. In this sense, our people must strengthen solidarity in every area.

The situation caused by the virus has shown the importance of forming communities and building councils to meet the needs of society. We must continue along this path. In this way, our people can be self-sufficient in every phase of the struggle, but also in crises caused by capitalist modernity. Our people have already witnessed the importance of an organised society in Rojava, Europe and Maxmur.

We call on all Kurdish people and their friends to organise themselves in solidarity everywhere and to expand the struggle against Turkish colonial fascism despite all difficulties.”
