KDP asayish force families from North Kurdistan to surrender to Turkey

Asayish (public security) forces of South Kurdistan's KDP are putting pressure on the families from North Kurdistan who settled in South Kurdistan after displacement by the Turkish state in 1990 to surrender to Turkey.

Three days ago, KDP asayish went to the houses of 28 families from North Kurdistan who are living in Zakho city of Duhok province, and forced them to leave the city, accusing them of supporting the PKK.

The families were ordered to surrender to the Turkish state in 15 days. Asayish forces threatened to seize the properties of these families and to expel them from the city by use of force in the event that they do not surrender.

Families said in response that they will not surrender to the Turkish state, recalling that they had taken shelter in South Kurdistan due to the atrocity and repression of the Turkish state.

The families in question were forced to migrate to South Kurdistan in 1990 when the Turkish state burned thousands of villages, massacred thousands of people and displaced millions of others in North Kurdistan.

These displaced families were since obstructed by the KDP from taking part in any political entity.
