Martyr Kendal lived believing that it was possible to achieve victory. He spent a long time in the Xinêre and Xakurkê areas, and had many experiences while in the guerrilla. Particularly in the Xakurkê area, he fought the Turkish army many times, and took part in many successful actions.
Commander Kendal conveyed his feelings for his country in his diary with these words: “It is a fire of love inside me that binds me to these mountains. It is such a place that I can't even draw a picture of it, a country that can only be reached through dreams, and can be fictionalized in thoughts. Its name may be described as utopia in history, heaven in religion or the country behind the mountains of Kaf. It is a country with lush forests and sparkling waters, a land without death, a lost city which our mothers and grandmothers told us about when we were little. Yes, this lost city is hidden in the mountains of Kurdistan. This country, which no one believes in, is hidden in these mountains.”
Kendal Azad wanted to return to Botan, his birthplace. In the end, he got what he wanted and he achieved his dreams. Besides his devoted, hardworking and labouring personality, he succeeded in being a successful war commander who always won the admiration of his comrades also because of his interest and skill in art.
