KNK calls for action against Turkish invasion of South Kurdistan

Iraq, Kurdistan Region government and Kurdistan Region Parliament are legitimizing the crimes of the Turkish state by remaining silent on the attacks, said the KNK.

Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Human Rights Committee released a statement on the civilian massacre committed by the Turkish state in Kortek region of southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

Recalling that 7 people had been killed by another Turkish air raid in Qandil’s Kortek region on 21 August 2011, the statement said; “Turkish fighter jets have bombed the very same place on 27 June 2019, killing 3 people and wounding another 5.”

KNK Human Rights Committee pointed to the ever increasing crimes committed by the invaders against the Kurdish people, and continued; “The invaders are bombing every inch of Bashur (South Kurdistan) without putting forward any reason, burning down the fields of farmers and intimidating the local population. Iraq, Kurdistan Region government and Kurdistan Region Parliament are legitimizing the crimes of the Turkish state by remaining silent on the attacks.”

The Committee called on political forces, civil society organizations and human right organizations to adopt a patriotic attitude and do their part against the Turkish state’s crimes, and to report these crimes to international courts and human rights organizations.
