The Free and Democratic Society of East Kurdistan (KODAR) issued a written statement on KDP’s attack on Shengal.

The statement mentioned the Turkish state’s animosity against Kurds, saying: “Turkey’s fascist regime is trying all they can to carry out a genocide on Kurds. Especially after the ISIS defeat, Turkey’s regime has declared war on the South and the Northern Syria Democratic Federation, and shifted their military forces to these regions. And after the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq (KDP) sold Shengal out to ISIS, now they are trying to fulfill the fascist Turkish state’s wishes for them.”

KODAR stated that in such a time when Kurdish national unity is needed more than ever, a group KDP calls “Roj Peshmerga” carried out an extensive attack on Shengal, continuing as follows: “The gangs in question have been trained by the invading Turkish state, and attacked the people of Khanesor and their forces who defended Shengal, the YBŞ. The attacks coinciding immediately with the Erdoğan-Barzani meeting show that the KDP and the ENKS are being used in the anti-Kurdish Turkish regime politics.”

KODAR stressed that the gangs acting under orders from Erdoğan and Barzani are doomed to fail just like ISIS.

“THEY CAN’T DESTROY THE GAINS”

KODAR also stressed that the Kurdish people never leave attacks like these unanswered, and saluting the Êzidî people’s resistance, stated that the people of Eastern Kurdistan stand with the Shengal resistance.

KODAR’s statement concluded with: “The people of Eastern Kurdistan will support Shengal against the fascist Turkish state’s gangs, like they supported Shengal during ISIS attacks. Neither Turkey’s fascist regime or traitors can destroy the gains of the Kurdish people.”
