The Iranian state's pressure and arrests of Kurdish activists are continuing. Environmental activist Faranak Jamshidi, a member of the Green Kurdistan Society, who was released on bail after being arrested on June 28, 2020, was heard on January 23 at the Islamic Revolution Court in Sinê.

According to the information obtained from local sources by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, Jamshidi was sentenced to 4 years in prison for "being a member of a Kurdish opposition party".

The decision was notified to the lawyer on February 2 and Faranak Jamshidi was arrested.

AT LEAST 120 DETENTED SINCE 8 JANUARY

On the other hand, the detention period of 25 people detained in Urmia, Sine and Mariwan has been extended. On January 8, a new crackdown was launched against Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan and many cities in Iran. At least 120 people have been detained so far.
